A Stylish IKEA Dining Room with MÖRBYLÅNGA, HAVSTA and SIMRISHAMN

23.08.2025

When it comes to creating a modern dining space that feels both warm and sophisticated, IKEA knows how to balance materials, lighting, and smart storage. During my recent visit to an IKEA store in Berlin, I explored this dining room setup featuring the MÖRBYLÅNGA dining table, the HAVSTA glass cabinet, and the elegant SIMRISHAMN pendant lamp. The result is a timeless look where natural wood meets deep, dramatic tones.

The MÖRBYLÅNGA Dining Table

At the heart of the room stands the MÖRBYLÅNGA table (220x100 cm), designed with a brown-stained oak veneer. Its distinct pattern gives the impression of a solid wood surface, bringing texture and character to the space. The table easily becomes the focal point, perfect for everyday meals or larger gatherings.

The HAVSTA Glass Cabinet

Against the wall, the HAVSTA cabinet with glass sliding doors in black provides both storage and display. Measuring 121x47x212 cm, it combines clean lines with a traditional feel. The cabinet lighting highlights glassware and ceramics, turning functional storage into a stylish showcase.

The SIMRISHAMN Pendant Lamp

Above the dining table hangs the striking SIMRISHAMN pendant lamp. Its chrome frame and round glass globes create a soft yet modern light that ties the entire room together. The lamp adds a touch of elegance and a slightly retro vibe, balancing perfectly with the natural tones of the table and the dark cabinet in the background.

Color and Material Choices

  • Wall color: Dark gray, NCS S 5502-Y

  • Flooring: Walnut wood effect (external supplier)

  • Curtains & rug: Dark fabrics that frame the space and add softness

Together, these choices create a moody yet inviting atmosphere, where the warm tones of the oak table contrast beautifully with the dark backdrop of the walls and cabinet.

Final Thoughts

This dining room is a great example of how IKEA mixes natural materials, storage solutions, and smart lighting to achieve a stylish and functional result. The MÖRBYLÅNGA table, HAVSTA cabinet, and SIMRISHAMN lamp complement each other perfectly, offering both character and practicality.
