Danish home furnishing retailer JYSK has officially entered the African market with the opening of two new stores in Casablanca, Morocco, on April 10, 2025. Rami Jensen, President & CEO of JYSK, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone:

"Expanding into Africa has been a long-term goal for JYSK, and today we are proud to make it a reality with our first stores in Casablanca. I look forward to seeing how JYSK grows in this exciting new market, and I am confident our great Scandinavian offers will resonate well with Moroccan customers."

The two new stores are strategically located in Viva Park and Aeria Mall, catering to customers across Casablanca. In addition to these physical locations, JYSK has launched an online shopping platform at JYSK.ma, allowing Moroccan customers to explore and purchase products conveniently.

The decision to enter the Moroccan market was met with remarkable enthusiasm. Prior to the openings, JYSK received over 5,000 applications for approximately 50 positions, reflecting the brand's strong appeal and the local community's interest. Mikael Nielsen, Executive Vice President of Retail at JYSK, commented on this response:

"It is fantastic to see so many applications already, and we are very proud of the interest in working at JYSK, especially in a market where we are not yet well known."

To ensure a seamless integration into the Moroccan market, JYSK has established a local head office in Casablanca. The company has also initiated comprehensive training programs for its new employees, emphasizing JYSK's core values and operational standards. Country Director for JYSK Morocco, Igor Raić, highlighted the importance of this preparation:

"We are well underway with training and onboarding our new colleagues in JYSK's values. Fortunately, we are experienced in operating in many countries, and we work with diverse cultures daily, so we understand the importance of embracing differences while implementing the practices we know work at JYSK."

This expansion into Morocco aligns with JYSK's broader growth strategy. Notably, just two weeks prior, the company inaugurated its first store in South America through a franchise setup. Rami Jensen remarked on these concurrent milestones:

"Our expansion into Morocco is a confirmation of JYSK's business model, which continues to be a success across all our markets. Just two weeks ago, we opened our first store in South America through our franchise setup, and now we are making our debut in Africa. JYSK is no stranger to expansion, but entering two new continents within a year is a remarkable milestone that opens even more opportunities for growth."

JYSK's entry into the African market is a testament to its commitment to bringing Scandinavian design and quality to new regions. With plans for further expansion in Morocco and beyond, the company continues to solidify its position as a global leader in home furnishings.
