IKEA launches SANDLÖPARE – a playful collection inspired by the savannah

IKEA is bringing the wild into children's rooms with the brand-new SANDLÖPARE collection, inspired by the African savannah. In this imaginative line, rugs turn into snakes, stools become zebras, and a quilted mat with a storage trunk transforms any bedroom into a safari campsite.

The collection features 29 different products designed to spark curiosity, encourage role play, and make everyday life more adventurous. By teaming up with the Swedish wildlife conservation centre Nordens Ark, IKEA also shines a light on endangered species – from the slender-snouted crocodile to the flat pancake tortoise – giving families the chance to discover animals they may have never heard of before.

All SANDLÖPARE soft toys are made from 100% recycled materials, tested for durability, safety and washability to ensure they can handle everything from chewing and pulling to muddy outdoor play. Each toy also has embroidered eyes, a detail IKEA introduced years ago for safety reasons, which now gives the animals their lively, expressive personalities.

With SANDLÖPARE, IKEA not only brings more fun into children's playtime but also inspires families to care about nature and the animals we share the planet with. The SANDLÖPARE collection will launch across all IKEA markets in October 2025.
