IKEA Previews New Smart Home Products and Bluetooth Speakers

IKEA has just published an official newsroom article outlining its upcoming smart home innovations, including Matter-compatible devices, new DIRIGERA functionality, and playful Bluetooth speakers. All information in this post is based on material © Inter IKEA Systems B.V. 2025, and may be used for non-commercial purposes only — including the official press photos and product visuals shared by IKEA.
This announcement marks the beginning of what IKEA calls a new chapter in designing technology for the home. With launches planned throughout the year, from smart lighting in January to colorful speakers in the fall, IKEA is aiming to make home technology simpler, more open, and easier to enjoy for the many people.

Smarter Technology for Real Life
Starting in January, IKEA will release over 20 new smart home products, all compatible with Matter – the universal smart home standard that enables devices from different brands to work together seamlessly.
These new products are designed to meet everyday needs, shaped by how people actually live. The focus is not on adding technology for the sake of it, but on creating solutions that are open, simple, and affordable. The idea is to make homes more adaptive, functional, and supportive in daily life.
To use Matter-enabled devices, customers will need a compatible smart home hub like DIRIGERA. IKEA confirms that DIRIGERA is now officially a Matter Controller, capable of managing products from other brands. It also acts as a Matter Bridge, ensuring that older IKEA smart products can continue to work within newer platforms. This opens up the IKEA Home smart system more than ever before.
"Until now, smart home technology hasn't been easy enough to use for most people – or affordable enough for many to consider," says David Granath, Range Manager at IKEA of Sweden.
"Bringing Matter to our products means we are taking a big step in the right direction, offering compatibility across brands and lowering the threshold for people to get started."
Smart Home Made More Open
The upcoming smart products are expected to offer well-integrated design at prices that make connected technology accessible to a broader audience. Matter support means IKEA's system will not only work with its own devices, but also with products from a wide range of third-party brands.
This marks a clear shift toward interoperability and platform independence, making IKEA a more flexible and attractive option in the competitive smart home landscape.

A New Direction in Sound and Design
Alongside the smart home updates, IKEA is placing a new focus on sound design — aiming to make speakers just as personal and visually integrated as any other piece of home furnishing.
Later this year, two Bluetooth speakers and a design collaboration will launch, reflecting IKEA's goal of making audio products more visible, expressive, and fun.

NATTBAD and BLOMPRAKT – Bluetooth Speakers That Look Like Decor
Launching in July, the NATTBAD Bluetooth speaker is a playful take on the traditional radio. It comes in yellow, pink, and black, and is designed as a low-price entry point into home sound.
In October, IKEA will introduce BLOMPRAKT, a more practical speaker designed for bedside tables or cozy corners. Available in beige, black, and blue, it features an angled top and an integrated light — combining sound with adjustable ambiance.
Both speakers focus on:
-
Plug-and-play usability
-
Multi-speaker functionality
-
Support for Spotify Tap
-
Affordable pricing without compromising design
"We've learned a great deal about creating high-quality sound experiences that are easy to use," says David Granath.
"Our goal is to make sound feel natural in the home — accessible, functional, and enjoyable, without adding complexity."
Collaboration with Tekla Severin (Teklan)
Also launching in January is a new design collaboration with Swedish designer Tekla Severin, known as "Teklan." Famous for her bold use of color, Teklan brings a fresh and personal perspective to the intersection of technology and interior design.
The partnership aims to blur the line between electronics and home furnishing, making tech more expressive and aligned with individual style.
What's Next?
More updates on IKEA's smart home lineup and upcoming collaborations will be revealed closer to launch. But one thing is clear — IKEA is serious about making smart home technology more inclusive, intuitive, and enjoyable for everyday living.
