IKEA’s STOCKHOLM 2025 Collection – Celebrating 40 Years of Scandinavian Elegance

10.05.2025

In 2025, IKEA marks a major milestone: 40 years of its beloved STOCKHOLM collection. Known as "the best of IKEA," STOCKHOLM has always represented timeless Scandinavian design with a focus on high-quality materials, craftsmanship, and everyday beauty. On April 10, 2025, the newest chapter launches — and it's more refined, expressive, and relevant than ever. (All photos © IKEA)

A Heritage Built on Quality and Warmth

Launched in 1985, the STOCKHOLM collection was created to offer something different — IKEA's take on affordable luxury. Each new version over the years has reflected changing lifestyles, evolving tastes, and fresh interpretations of Nordic design. The 2025 edition continues this journey with 96 carefully designed pieces that range from inviting sofas and sculptural lighting to hand-blown glassware and natural fiber rugs.

The focus remains the same: beautiful, functional objects that are built to last and designed to age with grace.

Inspired by the Swedish Landscape

The collection draws deeply from its roots — both the raw beauty of Swedish nature and the energy of Stockholm city life. Think soft curves, natural materials, warm tones, and a balance of modern simplicity with artistic detail. Creative Leader Karin Gustavsson explains how contrast lies at the heart of Scandinavian design, and the STOCKHOLM 2025 collection embraces this by combining purity with personality.

Every item has a clear identity, yet feels like it belongs in any home.

Standout Designs to Watch

One of the collection's highlights is a stunning, sculptural glass chandelier — a first for IKEA. It's delicate, dramatic, and made possible through close collaboration between designer Nike Karlsson and the product development team.

Another standout is a smart and elegant candleholder made in bronze, designed to hold both tealights and taper candles — a perfect example of form meeting function.

From deep-seated sofas in rich wool to coffee tables made from solid pine, the collection prioritizes natural textures and tactile experiences.

A Collection That Respects Nature

Sustainability is central to STOCKHOLM 2025. IKEA has chosen materials like mouth-blown glass, FSC-certified wood, and renewable wool to create products that are not only beautiful but also responsible. Each piece is designed to be loved longer, encouraging more mindful consumption and appreciation for lasting design.

Available Spring 2025

The STOCKHOLM 2025 collection lands in IKEA stores and online on April 10, 2025. It's not just a celebration of an anniversary — it's a statement about how good design, sustainability, and affordability can coexist in the modern home.

For anyone who values timeless design with soul and substance, this is a collection to watch — and to live with.
